Note from the distributor:
Prepare to be corrupted and depraved once more as Nucleus Films releases the definitive guide to the Video Nasties phenomenon - one of the most extraordinary and scandalous eras in the history of British film. For the first time ever on DVD, TRAILERS to all 72 films that fell foul of the Director of Public Prosecutions are featured with specially filmed intros for each title in a lavish three-disc collector s edition box-set, alongside a brand new documentary - VIDEO NASTIES: MORAL PANIC, CENSORSHIP AND VIDEOTAPE. Disc One presents the 39 titles which were successfully prosecuted in UK courts and deemed liable to deprave and corrupt. Disc Two presents the 33 titles that were initially banned, but then subsequently acquitted and removed from the DPP's list. Disc Three This era-defining documentary features interviews with filmmakers Ruggero Deodato ( Cannibal Holocaust ) Neil Marshall ( The Descent , Doomsday ), Christopher Smith ( Severance , Black Death ) and MP Graham Bright as well as rare archive footage featuring James Ferman (director of the BBFC 1975-1999) & Mary Whitehouse. Taking in the explosion of home video, the erosion of civil liberties, the introduction of draconian censorship measures, hysterical press campaigns and the birth of many careers born in blood and videotape, West s documentary also reflects on the influence this peculiar era still exerts on us today. Extras include a gallery of original video company idents and extensive gallery of lurid cover art for every video nasty.

The Pulp Cinema Trailer Collection

Released by: All Day Entertainment
Release date: ?

Duration: 99 minutes

Video: 4:3 , black/white
Audio:2.0 Mono, English
Subtitles: none

Region: 0 (NTSC)

Note from the distributor:

During the period around and immediately following the Second World War, American filmmakers began to crank out a cycle of dark, unsettling crime pictures, suffused with a profound cynicism and a stylish Expressionist look. Peopled with tough guys (Humphrey Bogart, Edward G. Robinson, James Cagney) and femme fatales (Barbara Stanwyck, Lauren Bacall, Ida Lupino) trapped by Fate, inspired by the hard-boiled novels from the likes of Dashiell Hammett and Raymond Chandler, these urban melodramas became a genre unto themselves. Some were high-profile A-list productions by Hollywood’s finest (The Maltese Falcon, Double Indemnity, The Big Heat), but most were low-budget B-pictures (The Big Knife, Private Hell 36, The Cobra Strikes).

All Day Entertainment is launching a new series of PULP CINEMA, to recover some of the unsung classics of B-noir. To whet your appetite and set the stage, we collect here four dozen original coming attractions previews of classic film noir. From A-list biggies to lesser-known gems, this set is a distillation of America’s home grown film style: pulp cinema.

Video: 4:3 , colour and black/white
Audio: 2.0 Mono, English
Subtitles: none

Region: 0 (NTSC)

Note from the distributor:

Lurching, growling and crashing through more than two dozen original theatrical trailers and TV appearances, the Monster and his maker are featured in the original Universal films, the Technicolor terrors of Hammer, and a selection of the most off-beat Frankie flicks ever seen: there’s a 50-foot tall Japanese monster, a space robot, a Teenage Monster, and more Brides, Sons, Daughters and Ghosts of Frankenstein than you could shake a scalpel at.

For the first time on DVD, you'll see the half-hour pilot for a TV series, Tales of Frankenstein, produced by Hammer films in 1959, directed by Curt (Donovan's Brain) Siodmak, plus hysterical appearances by Lon Chaney and Glenn Strange with Abbott and Costello, and excerpts from Chaney's ill-fated broadcast of Frankenstein on the early live TV anthology Tales of Tomorrow. As extra added-value attractions, this DVD also includes an audio interview with Boris Karloff, a filmed interview with Karloff, and interviews with Hammer producer Michael Carreras and "an audio interview with Glenn Strange. A DVD-ROM supplement reproduces the complete text to Mary Shelley's novel.
